Welcome to The Ring Bar at CMD, where we embrace the art of mixing metals, shapes, and finishes to create stunning and unique stack sets. Today, we’re diving into the world of mixed-shape stacks — a ring aesthetic that really brings individuality and flair to your accessory game.

Follow these go-to recommendations to craft a set that is both stylish and uniquely yours.
When in doubt, start with a classic choice: the densa band. We offer densa styles in various widths ("densa" is anything 3mm to 12mm wide), shapes and textures at The Ring Bar. We also offer heirloom quality (14k solid gold) versions on our Special Occasion Bands page. We recommend beginning with trying out a 3mm and a 5mm band as your bases. These sizes provide a great balance and allow you to experiment without overwhelming your fingers.
Try These Combinations:
Two Rounds: Two 3mm or 5mm round bands in the same or different metals create a uniform, polished look.
Two Squares: Square bands offer a sleek and modern touch. Combining two 3mm or 5mm square bands can add a geometric edge to your stack.
One of Each: Pairing a round and a square band brings a dynamic contrast that’s visually intriguing.
Mixing metals is a fantastic way to add depth and dimension to your stack. At CMD, we love experimenting with different metal combinations. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Two 14k Gold Bands: Classic and timeless, two solid gold densa bands look elegant and sophisticated.
Two Silver Bands: For a sleek, monochromatic look, stack two silver Densa bands.
Gold and Silver: Combining gold and silver bands offers a stylish contrast that’s versatile and modern.
The finish of your bands can dramatically affect the overall look of your stack. Note: Our everyday gold bands (14k gold-fill) will always come shiny, as a matte finish would compromise the thick gold coating. Our solid silver and 14k gold bands can be made shiny or matte, and you can purchase the corresponding polishing cloth to maintain your desired finish here.
Here’s how you can play with textures and finishes:
Shiny: Polished bands offer a clean and classic appearance.
Matte: Matte finishes provide a subtle, understated elegance and soft shine to the metal.
Hammered: A hammered finish adds a unique, artisanal touch and catches the light in an interesting way.
Smooth: We’ve recently introduced several few smooth bands to the collection — I suggest checking out the Object, Asbury, Boardwalk or Sunken Diamond Rings!
The beauty of mixed-shape stacking is that it’s highly customizable. Feel free to experiment with different shapes, metals, and finishes and ring ordering until you find a combination and look that resonates with your personal style. Remember, the goal is to create a stack that feels uniquely you.
When designing your stack, consider the proportions of each band. Mixing widths and shapes can create a balanced, harmonious look, but it’s important to ensure that the overall stack feels cohesive. You can start with a few key pieces and build your stack over time as you discover what works best for you.
Designing a mixed-shape stack ring set is a fun and creative way to express your style. By starting with foundational densa bands, experimenting with metal combinations, and playing with different finishes, you can create a stack that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also a true reflection of your personality. At CMD, we believe in the power of personalization, so don’t be afraid to mix things up and let your individuality shine through.
I also realize this is a lot of information so keep in mind that we can meet virtually or in person and I can help walk you through this process. Helping others to create their Dream Stack is my happy place. Book your time here.
Stack until you can’t bend!
