When I sit down at my workbench — usually with a fresh cup of coffee and a pencil sketch that’s already been lived in a little — I’m thinking about more than just metal and stone. I’m thinking about the way jewelry becomes a part of us. How a single piece can carry a memory, a milestone, or a sense of power that’s uniquely our own.
I also think of my own journey — Even long before becoming a jewelry designer, I was always donning my fingers in metal. I think subconsciously, I somehow felt more powerful and confident when I was covered in rings. I remember buying my first chunky silver ring when I was just 18 while I was on spring break in Cancun, Mexico. It was a Mayan Sun Dial that I “splurged” on, spending $40 USD at a market. I was delighted with my purchase!. Even as a high schooler, I was always working on weekends to make ends meet, as money was really tight at home. Even as a teenager, I knew that I was investing in myself. To this day, that ring reminds me of my winding journey and how my medium became metal. It’s been a wild ride to say the very least.
