The Streets of My Childhood

The Streets of My Childhood

It feels so long ago that I was cruising on my bike with my brother and sister around the Wanamassa School. As a little girl, I quickly learned the value of hard work and dedication. We lived just a stone’s throw from the school and our community was chock full of working class families, including my mom who raised three kids on a teacher’s salary.

As kids, we knew it was time to head home when the sun was setting and we could smell dinner being put on the table. Technology has changed our world so much and I’m grateful that I was able to spend my childhood without ties to screens or computers. I spent hours after school in my bedroom making art using pencil, paper and crayons. I’m certain my creativity stemmed from these experiences.

When I moved back to New Jersey in 2020, I chose the amazing community of Asbury Park. It’s pretty wild that my new home is less than a mile from the apartment I grew up in. When I was designing Full Circle, it seemed only appropriate to pay homage to my old stomping grounds.

Each piece in my new collection is named after streets that remind me of my childhood here on the Jersey Shore. Wanamassa School is on Bendermere Avenue and the simple forms and shapes of the Bendermere earrings remind me of the simplicity of childhood. For a smaller scaled pair of this design, be sure to check out the Grasmeres.

Feeling grateful for this journey that has brought me Full Circle,

Every time I land in San Francisco, something in my body exhales. There’s a light that feels familiar and the smell of eucalyptus and sea water is so grounding. The fog rolling in over Twin Peaks feels like an old friend. It’s cliché to say I left my heart here — but if I’m being honest, I kind of did. CMD was born in this city. In 2005, I was making jewelry [...]

It’s easy to say “woman-owned.” It’s more meaningful to pause and remember that every woman-owned business begins with a little girl who had the curiosity, creativity, stubbornness, and imagination to make her dreams come true. Probably a little bit of fearless chaos, too. International Women’s Day is about honoring the journey — the girlhood, the awkward [...]

Custom Stories We Can't Stop Thinking About

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on some of my favorite custom projects — the kind where memory, metal and meaning all collide. From heirloom diamonds and recycled gold to entirely bespoke wedding bands, these are the stories that remind me why I feel so called to this work... If you’ve been holding onto diamonds, want to recycle metal for [...]
