Happy New Year from CMD! We’re so grateful for the changes and triumphs we experienced in 2014, and simply can’t wait to see what adventures lie ahead. This year we plan to discover new inspirations while staying true to our signature aesthetic. That concept comes to life in our latest pieces: the mini Black & Gold collection.
Inspired by our Gradients collection, which was designed for those who like a little edge with their elegance (think our bold densa rings), Black & Gold is an entirely new venture for CMD. While working on Gradients, we began to play with a gradual change of texture within one piece of jewelry by soldering gold and silver together. (Creative trial-and-error is an important step in our designs.) Looking at the jewelry mid-production, we began to imagine the silver being oxidized—and therefore turning black—to contrast the gold. Our final product was the most gorgeous combination, and our Black & Gold collection was born.
Black & Gold is always in style, no matter the season or occasion. When in doubt for an outfit, a favorite black dress and shiny gold jewelry can make anyone feel like a million bucks. Conveniently, our jewelry is now both! Whether you’re dolling up for a sophisticated night out, or in jeans and boots running errands about town, our Black & Gold pieces will be a perfect complement. We’d love to hear what you think about our exciting new line, so drop us a comment below and tell us which piece is your favorite!

When it comes to jewelry, there’s something about a piece that pulls on the old heart strings — one that carries meaning, a memory, and a story only you could tell. Over the years, I’ve created countless custom designs. It never gets old to see a simple letter or name transform [...]
When I sit down at my workbench — usually with a fresh cup of coffee and a pencil sketch that’s already been lived in a little — I’m thinking about more than just metal and stone. I’m thinking about the way jewelry becomes a part of us. How a single piece can carry a memory, a milestone, or a sense of power that’s uniquely our own. I'm thrilled to [...]
