What's the difference between a MATTE and SHINY finish?

What's the difference between a MATTE and SHINY finish?

CMD is all about the mixed metals, shapes and...finishes! Today I wanted to show you the difference between signature MATTE and SHINY finishes on our jewelry.

The cuff on the left has a SHINY, high polish finish. If you look really closely, you can even see my reflection in the bracelet. This gives a "blingier" look than our matte finish. To create it, we use a heavy duty polishing wheel in the production studio.

The cuff on the right is what we call our MATTE finish. Matte is a non-reflective and more satin-like finish. To create this look, our production team will tumble the cuff in a ceramic medium for a half an hour.

Did you know that you can choose your preferred finish on any of our sterling silver or solid 14k gold pieces? So you can maintain this look at home, we now offer Shiny and Matte Finishing Cloths for purchase online!

I believe in owning fewer pieces of jewelry, but choosing them intentionally. Pieces that feel good on your body, that work with your everyday life, and that don’t need to be replaced a year (or even a season) from now. When jewelry is thoughtfully designed and well made, it doesn’t need to shout. It doesn’t need to follow trends to [...]
