For those of you who are new to CMD, welcome! I'm so happy you're here. A little backstory: It was never part of my plan for CMD to have its own storefront. But one day, after years of living in San Francisco and riding my bike through the same intersection of 25th and Valencia Street, what became our SF Shop just sort of fell into my lap.
When I opened my brick and mortar, I took that leap of faith, and the payoff was tremendous: What a gift it was to bridge the gap between design studio and showroom space to create something far greater than my original vision. I'm so grateful to have been part of the Mission merchant community for so long, and to have shared our work with incredible customers and neighbors.
Back in mid-March of 2020, CMD began offering virtual shopping sessions in light of the pandemic and restrictions for retail businesses. Our small crew of six created a virtual model so we could "meet" you in person. I was pleasantly surprised by the results of our efforts. Through these virtual sessions, I feel more connected with my customers than ever before.
In September, I was in a place where I was finally ready to move back East permanently. I grew up in New Jersey -- just a short drive from my new studio in Asbury Park. The biggest motivator for my move was to be closer to my family and the rest of my team. I announced the closure of my shop in San Francisco and found a lovely light-drenched space in the Bond Street Offices of Asbury Park.
I'm so excited to be in Asbury Park as there's a young and thriving craft community here, similar to the vibe that SF had when I was getting CMD going back in the early 2000s. I'm also thrilled to be in a place along the coastline (the ocean is part of my soul). My office is in a beautiful 3-story building only a half mile away from the beach and Miglia (my dog and the new CMD mascot) and I have been so enjoying our after-work walks.
I'm in love with my new space and I can't wait to open my doors to you for in-person appointments and shopping sometime in 2021. For now we'll be sticking to virtual appointments and you can meet with me anywhere you are. Leave it to me to bring the jewelry!
