Running a jewelry business looks very different today than it did when I started CMD. So much of what we do can happen from anywhere now. You can build a stack online, send us photos of the jewelry you’re considering for Reconstruction, meet with me virtually from across the country and have something handmade for you in our Upstate New York studio without ever setting foot in a CMD space.
I love that. It has allowed us to work with people I never would have met otherwise. But there is still something about getting all of this jewelry out into the world and sitting across from you that I don’t think I’ll ever want to give up.
This week, I’m packing everything up and heading back to California.
I’ll be at Abode in Half Moon Bay this Friday, October 23rd for a day of private Custom & Reconstruction appointments (reservation required, you can book a time with me here), followed by a two-day Ring Bar Pop-Up on Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th from 11am–4pm both days. I'll have my entire collection in tow along with some new designs that you must see in person.
If you've ever looked at CMD online and wondered what a square ring actually feels like on your hand, whether you're really a shiny or matte person, or what happens when you put five rings together that you never would have thought to combine, this is exactly what these events are for.
There is something completely different about getting the jewelry onto your body. The ring you scrolled right past online might be the one you refuse to take off. The stack you were certain you wanted might turn into something completely different once we start playing with different combinations at The Ring Bar. That process never gets old.

Friday is specifically set aside for a handful of Custom & Reconstruction appointments, and you do not need to arrive with a finished idea to meet with me.
You can bring the inherited ring you love but would never wear as-is, the loose diamond you have no idea what to do with, the old gold you've been holding onto for twenty years or the piece that belonged to another version of your life. We’ll look at what you have together, talk about what matters to you and start figuring out what it could become.
Some Reconstruction projects I'm most proud of have started with someone sitting across from me saying, “I have no idea what to do with this.” That’s okay! That’s what I’m here for.

Book Your Abode AppointmentHalf Moon Bay isn’t the last stop. I’ll be back in San Francisco in November for another CMD Ring Bar Pop-Up at Yonder on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th.
One of the surreal parts of building CMD has been watching this little business that started at my bench grow into a community scattered all over the country. Every time I travel for an event, someone walks through the door who I’ve known for years through an email address, an Instagram handle or an order history. Finally getting to put a face and a voice to that name never gets old. Plus, the number of clients I haven't seen in years or a brand new fan seriously fills my cup.
So California, bring your stacks, your vintage jewelry, and your questions. Or just come say hello and let me put entirely too many rings on your hands. Let's stack until we can't bend IRL!
With a suitcase full of jewelry,
Colleen
