We Love a Confident Man in Jewelry

We Love a Confident Man in Jewelry

A man who wears what he wants without explanation? To me, that’s wildly attractive. Sexy, even.

Long before modern American menswear decided men were only allowed to wear a plain wedding band and maybe a watch, men across cultures wore rings, chains, signets, adornment, heirlooms and symbols of status, craftsmanship, identity and self expression. Jewelry wasn’t “feminine.” It was personal, intentional, and powerful.

Somewhere along the line, a lot of men were taught to shrink their self expression down to almost nothing.

We’re not interested in that.

At CMD, some of our favorite clients are the men who walk in slightly hesitant and walk out wondering why they waited so long. Shoulders are puffed out, rocking a chunky square ring. Gahhh! All. The. Yes!!

Because the truth is, jewelry transforms how you carry yourself. A single piece of metal can make a bland ‘fit absolutely pop!

A great ring becomes part of your body language. A signature piece can be the subtle detail that says you notice things, care about craftsmanship, and that you have taste. It’s proof that you’re willing to break the “rules,” express yourself authentically, and that you’re willing to take up a little visual space in the world.

And contrary to what some people still believe, jewelry on men doesn’t read as “too much.” Usually it reads as confident, creative, and self possessed. That’s attractive.

We’ve seen it happen over and over. The guy who starts with a wedding band and comes back for a pinky ring. The husband who never considered jewelry until his partner dragged him into one of our pop-ups and now wears his CMD ring every single day. The artist layering mixed metals without overthinking it. The quiet architect wearing one perfect matte gold band. The stylish dad that’s stacking a cigar band next to his wedding ring like he’s been doing it forever. It's amazing to see these men start to understand that personal style isn't vanity. It's self expression.

Father's Day feels like the perfect excuse to finally claim adornment again.

There’s something incredibly compelling about a man who feels at home in his own skin, and jewelry just makes that even more visible.

We've never designed for one type of person and we never will. CMD pieces move between people, styles and identities freely. The wider band looks just as good on him, her or them. That's intentional. There are no rules here.

And for the men who still think jewelry “isn’t for them,” I’d have to argue that you probably just haven’t found the right piece yet. Because once you do, it clicks almost instantly. You stop noticing the ring itself and start noticing how it makes you feel more like yourself, more expressive, and more confident.

Jewelry is a mindset, and confidence looks really good wearing gold.

Happy Father’s Day to all the stylish dads, husbands, artists, creatives, minimalists, romantics and quietly confident men wearing CMD out in the wild. We see you!

Armor up, gentlemen!

The Colleen Pinky Stack started because people wouldn't stop asking me the same question: "What's that?" (pointing to my pinky set). Originally part of my own everyday stack, the design became such a customer favorite that we turned it into a permanent member of the CMD fam. And it's been one of our best [...]
