At CMD, every piece of jewelry tells a story. For our long-time client Becky, that story began with an engagement ring with a broken diamond setting and a collection of loose diamonds from her original wedding stack. Becky was a little tired of her set, which was over two decades old and excited for something new and modern. These diamonds were anxiously waiting to be transformed. She came to us with a vision of a mixed-shape stack and left with something even better: a breathtaking stack of round rings… a truly showstopping set!
When she booked her appointment (a virtual one, no less!), her original idea had been a mixed shape stack. I mocked up and texted Becky quite a few mixed shape design ideas… but none that truly spoke to either of us. I started to envision the stack as an all round set, thinking it would make for an absolutely timeless and really comfortable set to wear. This is one of the many benefits of appointments — we get to explore your vision, try out different ideas, and see the creativity come to life in unexpected ways.
When I mocked up one vision in particular, Becky squealed, “YES!! That’s it!” I got quite the dopamine hit myself seeing it! We were both so excited to now bring the vision to life with her diamonds.
After collaborating and fine-tuning her design, we landed on a stunning combination:
✨ Two 3mm-wide bands: One in sleek 14k white gold and to contrast with the classic 14k yellow gold, each adorned with 12 diamonds from her original set. Becky had 20 diamonds so we were able to source an additional 4 lab-grown diamonds to complete the design. The bands felt perfectly balanced with the sourced diamonds which blended in perfectly with her original diamonds.
✨ A bold 6mm centerpiece band: A 6mm wide band to feature her 1.14-carat diamond, this piece was designed to sit center-stack and shine as the star of the show. Oh, how her original diamond sparkled — it’s a real beaut!
When she received her custom stack, she wrote to us:
