Celebrating two decades of creativity, community and handmade craft. The Big Two-Oh Collection honors this wild and prolific journey.
I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but CMD officially turned twenty in 2025. Two full decades of making, learning, stacking, soldering, connecting, reinventing, and dreaming, all thanks to you. Whether you discovered CMD in San Francisco twenty years ago or stumbled upon us much more recently, you’re part of this story. To celebrate that milestone, I created something truly close to my heart.
This special anniversary collection brings together a small-but-mighty lineup of designs that honor our journey so far while looking toward the next chapter. Inside the collection, you’ll find sculptural, clean-lined pieces like The Big Two-Oh Bangle Bracelet, the Legacy Necklace, the Origin Hoop Earrings, and other designs that reflect the layers, growth, and evolution of CMD over the years.
These pieces blend intention, geometry, craft, and connection, the cornerstones of CMD since day one. Some nod to forms I’ve returned to again and again, while others take familiar ideas somewhere new. I designed the collection as a love letter to the people, places, relationships, and experiences that shaped this brand over its first two decades.
When I started CMD, I couldn’t have known what this business would become. I knew that I loved working with metal, making things with my hands, and creating jewelry that felt substantial, expressive, and deeply wearable. Over the years, the studios changed, the team grew, and CMD made its way from San Francisco to Upstate New York and Asbury Park, but those instincts never really changed.
The twentieth anniversary year gave me plenty of opportunities to look back at where we started. I wrote about the little leap of faith that helped put CMD on the map, reflected on 20 lessons I learned along the way, and celebrated with so many of you in person.
We even celebrated the launch season by bringing The Ring Bar to Lovelight Handmade in Bradley Beach for a holiday pop-up. Experiences like that have become one of my favorite parts of CMD because they bring the jewelry off the screen and onto real hands, surrounded by conversation, creativity, and community.
You can always see where The Ring Bar is headed next on our Events & Happenings page.
Launching The Big Two-Oh Collection felt like closing one chapter and opening another. I’m incredibly grateful for the love, loyalty, stories, stacks, and support that brought CMD to this milestone, but I’m equally excited about everything we haven’t made yet.
Twenty years in, I still love seeing an idea become something tangible. I still love watching someone put on a piece of jewelry and immediately know it belongs to them. And our evolved CMD motto still says it best: metal is my medium and connection is my craft.
Thank you for being part of these first twenty years. I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
xo,
Colleen

If you have inherited jewelry sitting untouched because it simply doesn’t feel like you, selling it isn’t your only option. Before you let it go, bring me the stash. That old gold, outdated setting or collection of mismatched stones might be the beginning of something you’d actually wear. It's worth finding out what you're [...]
I love seeing CMD jewelry out in the wild, especially when it looks like it has become part of someone’s actual life. I’ve always wanted to make pieces that get worn, scratched, traveled with and lived in, not jewelry that waits in a box for the right occasion. To me, wearable art should be beautiful, personal [...]
One of the questions I get most often during Reconstruction consultations is: “Will my exact gold be melted down and turned directly into my new piece?” It’s a completely understandable question, especially because reconstruction work is so personal. People are often bringing in wedding rings, inherited [...]
