Introducing the Customizable Chosen Family Cuff Bracelet

A modern heirloom honoring the most transformative people in our lives

Some of the most meaningful jewelry pieces we make begin with a story. Introducing the new Chosen Family Cuff Bracelet. It's a love letter to the very dearest.

Last year, a wildly talented bride and longtime muse of CMD, LP Giobbi, approached me to see if I could help her with thoughtful gifts for her bridesmaids. She wanted to give each member of her wedding party (her chosen family) a deeply personal piece of armor they could wear to symbolize the strength of their bond. After we went back and forth with different design ideas, we settled on a very simple and meaningful one: hand-stamped cuff bracelets personalized with each person’s initials.

We made fourteen bracelets in total for the ten women and two men who made up her bridal party and then one for both the bride and groom! Like every CMD piece, each one was carefully stamped and finished by hand in our studio. Some of them wore gold, and three of them confidently wore a wider version of the design in silver. Each cuff marked a friendship, a shared history, and the quiet kind of loyalty that builds over years.

As we worked on the pieces, we kept returning to the idea behind them. The truth is chosen family deserves a place in our jewelry collection just as much as traditional heirlooms do. The cuffs would also become a marker of time and a reminder of a very magical weekend together celebrating the bride and groom. Many of us have friends who become more like siblings — the people who feel like home and show up again and again through the seasons of our lives.

The project stayed with us long after the wedding ended, and eventually we knew we wanted to bring these meaningful designs into the official CMD collection.

The Chosen Family Cuff Bracelet (Customizable!)

The Chosen Family Cuff Bracelet is designed to be a subtle tribute to the most transformative people in our lives. It’s a modern heirloom that praises fierce loyalty, precious friendship, and layers of shared history.

This refined 2.5mm cuff is hand-stamped with two initials of your choosing, creating a subtle yet meaningful marker of connection. Whether those letters represent a lifelong best friend, a stand-in parent, a partner, or a mentor who helped guide you along the way, the cuff quietly carries that bond at the very pulse of your wrist.

Simple, personal, and easy to wear every day, the design layers effortlessly with other CMD bracelets or stands beautifully on its own. This version of the cuff is available in yellow or rose 14k gold-fill, or sterling silver.

The Wide Chosen Family Cuff (Customizable!)

The Wide Chosen Family Cuff Bracelet offers a more substantial silhouette while carrying the same deeply personal meaning. Hand-stamped with two initials at the outer ends of the cuff, it creates a subtle yet powerful marker of connection.

This wider interpretation of the design was originally commissioned by LP Giobbi for members of her wedding party who preferred a bolder look, while others wore the narrower Chosen Family Cuff in gold. Together, the pieces celebrated deep-rooted friendship and unending loyalty.

Both designs serve as modern emblems of connection and belonging, and I hope you love them as much as we do.

Designed for Everyday Meaning

We love jewelry that holds a story but doesn’t need to shout about it. The initials sit subtly at the ends of the cuff — visible enough for you to see, but understated enough that the meaning remains personal.

These are the kinds of pieces that quietly become part of your daily life.

See You in Person This Saturday

Bay Area friends — I have one more pop-up event planned before I head back east!

This Saturday, March 21st, I’ll be collaborating with Lauren Nelson Design for a very special Ring Bar Pop-Up in San Anselmo. Lauren is an incredibly talented interior designer and a dear friend from my early San Francisco days, which makes this event feel especially full circle.

If you’d like to see these cuffs in person, build a signature Dream Stack at The Ring Bar, or dream up your own future heirlooms together, this is the perfect opportunity. Lauren will also be selling a selection of ceramics, textiles, vintage goods, and decorative pieces from her studio.

If you're nearby, I’d love to see you. Bring a friend, try on some stacks, and come hang with us!

Ring Bar Pop-Up at Lauren Nelson Design

Saturday, March 21st, 12pm–5pm

Back Where It All Began: CMD & San Francisco

Every time I land in San Francisco, something in my body exhales. There’s a light that feels familiar and the smell of eucalyptus and sea water is so grounding. The fog rolling in over Twin Peaks feels like an old friend. It’s cliché to say I left my heart here — but if I’m being honest, I kind of did. CMD was born in this city. In 2005, I was making jewelry [...]

It’s easy to say “woman-owned.” It’s more meaningful to pause and remember that every woman-owned business begins with a little girl who had the curiosity, creativity, stubbornness, and imagination to make her dreams come true. Probably a little bit of fearless chaos, too. International Women’s Day is about honoring the journey — the girlhood, the awkward [...]
