Reflections on 2024:
New Designs & Connections

As 2024 draws to a close, all of us here at CMD (Colleen, Aryana, Sam, Kelsey, Jill, and Miglia, too!) are filled with gratitude and pride for the milestones we've achieved and the community we're growing. This year has been a journey of creativity, connection, and growth, and we owe it all to you. Thank you for all your support now and always.

New Products & Collections Fresh Off The Bench

This year, we poured our hearts into designing and launching new pieces that blend elegance with everyday wearability. Each piece is crafted to sparkle and make an impression, both while being worn and while sitting pretty on your nightstand. Here are some of the standout additions to our collection:

Spread the Love & Infinity Bracelets — These delicate bracelets symbolize connection and affection, making them meaningful gifts for loved ones or a heartfelt treat for yourself. Their minimalist design makes them perfect for everyday wear.

Design Lab III: Objects Collection — This experimental collection brought playful, modern designs to life. From abstract forms to functional yet artistic rings, the Objects Collection was a celebration of creative exploration and versatility.

Object Ring & Stack Ring Set — These heirloom-quality rings are designed to mix, match, and stack effortlessly. Their soft rounded elegance has made them a favorite for both casual and formal looks.

Diabolique Cuff & Ring — Bold and edgy, these designs were inspired by daring silhouettes and a rebellious spirit. The Diabolique cuff and ring stand out with their striking shapes, perfect for those who want their jewelry to make a statement.

The Framework Ring — As you can see, BOLD was a big theme this year... The unique Framework Ring design combines structural elegance with everyday wearability. Its architectural design adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit.

14k Gold Line Ring — An exquisite piece that adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to any look. This is my new favorite man band, indeed.

CMD Armor Ring — A bold statement piece that embodies strength and style, perfect for empowering your daily ensemble. I’ve been so happy to hear the connections that our clients are having with this ring, be it a brand new job or the ending of a long marriage. This ring symbolizes power and strength.

This year also marked the launch of The Way Back Home Collection in partnership with LP Giobbi. This collection holds a special place in my heart, blending modern design with the warmth of nostalgia. These pieces aren’t just jewelry, they’re armor: styles that evoke confidence and inspire creativity on the dance floor, wherever life’s path leads you. LP Giobbi herself proudly rocks CMD Armor at her brilliant shows along The Way Back Home Tour. Now it’s your turn! Take the stage.

As with all CMD jewelry, each ring in this inclusive collection is crafted with love and intention by hand in our Upstate New York production studio. We live for crafting beautiful jewelry that makes you feel like the star of the show.

We also crafted several truly memorable Custom and Special Occasion pieces this year, including this precious yellow diamond keepsake ring in honor of one client's beloved dog who crossed the rainbow bridge. Read that heartfelt story and see the final product here.

These projects allow us to bring your most meaningful stories to life and are where we really shine. Each custom piece is a collaboration that we love working on and want you to treasure for a lifetime. Interested in creating something extraordinary? Book an appointment with me. I’d love to work with you to craft a one-of-a-kind design!

The End of an Era: Saying Goodbye to Black & Gold

In addition to a record number of launches this year, we sadly retired the Black & Gold Collection to make room for newer processes and designs in the collection. At the time, a few featured Black & Gold pieces remained in our Ready to Ship Collection, giving longtime fans one last chance to own these edgy favorites. You can explore what’s currently available here.

Events & Happenings: Building Community Through Creativity & Partnerships

CMD Open Studio Hours, as well as both In-Person and Virtual Appointments, continued to offer an intimate glimpse into my creative process and a chance to work interactively together to find or create that perfect piece or stack set.

These sessions truly fill my cup as a designer, and I adore helping you bring your CMD visions to life and being your steward to elevating your unique style. I’ve loved welcoming you into my Asbury Park space, sharing the stories behind my designs and getting to know you better.

Your presence, support and feedback have been invaluable, and I look forward to continuing to offer one-on-one or group Appointments and Open Studio Hours at The CMD Shop.

Our Ring Bar Pop-Ups and Maker’s Market events were also a highlight, providing a platform to connect with other local artisans and celebrate the vibrant creative community around us in Asbury Park and beyond.

I partnered with local small businesses and shops like Lovelight Handmade, Terra Earth & Surf, Patriae, Main Street Gallery and Transparent Clinch Gallery, just to name a few. I was already looking forward to seeing where those connections would lead next.

And then there was the road.

I brought The Ring Bar with me while traveling across the country earlier that year. You can read my reflections on that amazing adventure and the incredible events we set up along the way at Abode, Cavallo Point and SFMOMA.

At the time I wrote this, I was wondering where CMD might travel next. Looking back, I love seeing how much those trips reinforced something I already knew: getting the jewelry out into the world and meeting you face-to-face is one of my favorite parts of this business.

These events are always buzzing with energy and inspiration, and I’m so grateful to everyone who turns up and joins me to shop, connect and support small, local and handmade.

Thank You for Being Part of Our Journey

As I reflect on 2024, my heart is full of gratitude for you. Your enthusiasm for CMD jewelry and commitment to supporting small, handmade businesses have been the driving force behind our growth and creativity. We are honored to be a part of your lives and to create pieces that hold meaning and significance for you.

Looking back, 2024 really was a year of new designs and new connections. We experimented, collaborated, traveled, made some pretty damn bold jewelry and found even more ways to bring this little CMD world together.

Thank you for being an integral part of the CMD family and for continuing to give us reasons to keep making, experimenting and showing up.

Here’s to following the ideas, people and unexpected paths that keep this creative life interesting,
Colleen + The CMD Team

Wearable Art for Real People

I love seeing CMD jewelry out in the wild. When I first started making jewelry back in my tiny Hayes Valley apartment in San Francisco, I wasn't interested in creating pieces that only came out for special occasions. I wanted to make jewelry that became part of people's everyday lives. The kind of ring you absentmindedly twist while you're thinking or having [...]

What Actually Happens to Your Recycled Gold?

One of the questions I get most often during Reconstruction consultations is: “Will my exact gold be melted down and turned directly into my new piece?” It’s a completely understandable question, especially because reconstruction work is so personal. People are often bringing in wedding rings, inherited [...]
