Silver or Gold? Why Not Get Both, Libra!

Silver or Gold? Why Not Get Both, Libra!

Of all the signs in the zodiac, Libra may have the best excuse for refusing to choose. Silver or gold? Why not both?

Libra is represented by the Scales, and balance is at the heart of its symbolism. Ruled by Venus, Libra is traditionally associated with beauty, relationships, harmony and aesthetics. It’s an air sign with an appreciation for connection and an instinct for seeing more than one side of things.

That combination of balance and beauty gave me a pretty perfect place to begin when I designed the Libra Ring.

Designing a Ring Around Balance

I wanted the Libra Ring to express the sign without simply putting a pair of scales on a piece of jewelry. Instead, the symbolism lives in the design itself.

The ring is symmetrical, with two parallel lines of metal creating a sense of balance around the finger. Mixing metals gives the design another layer of contrast: warm against cool, gold beside silver, two different materials existing together rather than asking you to choose between them.

That duality feels very Libra to me. The sign is associated with weighing possibilities, finding equilibrium and recognizing that two seemingly opposing things can both have value. Sometimes the answer really is both.

A Two-Tone Ring for the Sign of the Scales

The Libra Ring combines sterling silver with your choice of gold for a two-tone design that feels graphic, minimal and distinctly CMD.

It also fits naturally into the way I love to wear jewelry. Mixing metals has always been part of my design language, and I’ve never believed your jewelry collection needs to commit itself entirely to silver or entirely to gold. Different metals can live together beautifully, just like different shapes, textures and proportions can become more interesting when they're put in conversation with one another.

For Libra, that idea became the design.

Jewelry Inspired by the Zodiac, the CMD Way

When I design around a symbol, I’m much more interested in translating its meaning than illustrating it literally. The pieces in my Zodiac Series are meant to feel like CMD jewelry first: modern, wearable and designed to become part of your everyday collection.

You don't have to be a Libra to wear the Libra Ring, either. Maybe you're drawn to what the Scales represent. Maybe Libra belongs to someone you love. Or maybe you simply appreciate a beautifully balanced two-tone ring and would also prefer not to choose between silver and gold.

In that case, Libra and I are happy to give you permission to have both.

And if you are a Libra, make sure we know when your birthday is. Members of our CMD Bucks Rewards Program can earn rewards for shopping with us, referring friends and celebrating a birthday. Because a little CMD Bucks birthday gift seems especially appropriate for a sign that appreciates beautiful things.

Here's to finding balance without sacrificing either side,
Colleen

Pruning Season: Making Room For What Comes Next

After twenty-one years of creating, growing and evolving, I’m finding myself at another crossroads. A long-overdue afternoon pruning my backyard reminded me that growth isn’t always about adding more. Sometimes it’s about cutting back, trusting your intuition and making room for whatever is growing [...]
